Responsibilities
Maintains technical specifications, designs, and schedules with light direction from manager. Helps to communicate database needs and interests to product development team and others. Understands Gracenote products in general, but concentrates on a core subset and understands their interaction with the database. Takes ownership of important database projects, processes and production operations. Anticipates needs and provides alternative approaches and solutions. Adapts easily to rapidly changing requirements and priorities. Self motivated.
Responsible for writing well-defined portions of source code and adhering to established standards of quality for documentation and coding. Acts as a resource to others regarding database projects and development issues. Evaluates and suggests new tools and techniques to facilitate effective development practices. Keeps current on industry trends, database technologies, and other relevant areas. Insists on highest quality in own work and that of others.
Qualifications
- Four year college degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Produced two or more commercial applications.
- Proficient in one and exposed to the other of the following skill sets:
- Oracle development (on 9i or greater): SQL, PL/SQL, Performance tuning
- Java/XML development: JDBC, XML Schema, XSLT
- Proficient with UNIX as a development and deployment platform.
- Familiar with Internet Technologies
- Experience with Perl.
- Experience with database design and using schema design tools such as ERwin or Oracle Designer.
- Experience developing complex reports.
- Experience supporting database production operations.
- Experience working with outsource team a plus
- Knowledge of multi-byte character sets a plus.
- Knowledge of DBA a plus.
- Accepts ownership of important database production operations
- Good communication skills.
- Self motivated.
- Good planning and estimating skills.
- Recognizes problems and helps group adapt.
- Leads by example.
