Gracenote Playlist Plus enables advanced recognition and playlisting functionality for flash memory-based portable MP3 players, mobile phones, or home systems and car stereos devices. Its small footprint and customizable embedded database makes it ideal for devices that are often limited in enhancing music management and enjoyment features due to lack of Internet connectivity or memory space.
Dynamic Playlist Technology for Embedded Platforms
Utilizing Gracenote’s industry leading analysis and identification technologies, Playlist Plus scans the content of an external device when connected to a home product or automotive head unit and automatically cleans up and organizes the song metadata and adds key Gracenote information such as Genre, Origin, Era and Artist Type. Playlist Plus creates dynamic playlists using these pre-set definitions.
Additionally, Playlist Plus enables a simpler and safer music management and enjoyment experience by seamlessly working with Gracenote MediaVOCS®, which provides voice recognition controls for CE devices such as car stereos and other devices with limited user interfaces.
Normalizes Users Library and Playbacks
By utilizing Gracenote’s Artist, Album and Genre Names users have a complete, accurate and normalized set of metadata to manage and navigate their music collection. No more having “The Stones” and “The Rolling Stones” as two different Artists, or “Alternative” and “Alternative Rock” as genres. Additionally, if the user has a local music collection in their Home A/V unit or Car that uses Gracenote MusicID®, the playback experience will be normalized and content from both sources can be mixed seamlessly.
Enable Retrieval of MediaVOCS data and Cover Art
The Playlist Plus identification of content on external devices allows for linking to embedded or on-line DB’s to associate and retrieve MediaVOCS phonetic data and Album Cover Art. This allows for an enhanced user experience.
Instant More Like This™ Automatic Playlists
Although it comes with pre-set dynamic playlists such as “Rock On, Dude” and “70s Soul and Funk”, which can be easily synchronized with devices, Playlist Plus also allows music fans to generate one-touch or single voice command playlists with the More Like This™ feature. By simply selecting one or more tracks, albums, or artists as seeds, a Playlist-enabled product will automatically create a more focused list of songs from the user’s collection and return a mix of music that contains tunes that are related. The More Like This feature and auto-playlist functionality are invaluable when navigating a large music collection on devices with small screen, or limited controls like car stereos, mobile phones or MP3 players.
Gracenote Global Media Database
Gracenote Playlist Plus utilizes the Gracenote Global Media Database, the largest and most comprehensive global database of music and video information, enhanced through relationships with more than 3,000 content partners including major and independent labels, movie studios and other media information partners. The Global Media Database is available for offline and memory constrained devices as an embedded database, and Playlist Plus can be optimized for specific target regions using Gracenote’s popularity data for the most relevant and compact set of data.
